Privacy Policy for Mojo Instruments

At Mojo Instruments, your privacy matters. We believe marine data belongs on your boat — not in the cloud. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Mojo Instruments iOS app (“the App”) on iPhone or iPad.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Mojo Instruments is designed to work without accounts, tracking, or data collection. We do not collect, store, or share personal information of any kind.

• No Personal Data: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or identifiers.
• No Analytics or Tracking: We do not track usage, behavior, crashes, or performance metrics.
• No Accounts: There is no sign-in, registration, or user profile.
• No Advertising: We do not serve ads or share data with advertisers.

2. Data the App Accesses

Mojo Instruments accesses certain data solely to provide core app functionality. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to us.

• NMEA 0183 Data: The App reads marine instrument data (such as GPS position, speed, heading, wind, and depth) received over a user-selected Wi-Fi network via UDP or TCP.
• Chart Data: The App may display official NOAA chart data for navigation and routing purposes. Chart data is used locally and is not associated with any user identity.

All such data exists only in memory while the App is running and is discarded when the App is closed. Mojo Instruments does not store, log, or export this data.

3. How We Use Data

Any marine or chart data accessed by Mojo Instruments is used exclusively to operate app features such as:

• Instrument display
• Navigation and routing
• Bearing compass
• Race timers
• Man Overboard (MOB) marking

This data is never sent to external servers, cloud services, or third parties.

4. Data Security

Mojo Instruments does not store personal or marine data, reducing privacy risk by design. However, NMEA 0183 is an unencrypted protocol. We recommend using the App only on trusted onboard Wi-Fi networks to minimize exposure.

5. Third-Party Services

Mojo Instruments does not integrate with analytics platforms, advertising networks, social media services, or third-party data collectors.

6. Children’s Privacy

Mojo Instruments is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data Protection Rights (EU / GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have rights under the GDPR regarding personal data. Since Mojo Instruments does not collect or store personal data, these rights generally do not apply to use of the App.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have rights to know, access, or delete personal information collected by apps. Mojo Instruments does not collect personal information, so these rights are not applicable.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
